LEAF
The piano sits covered in dust in the archive hearing mummers
all day and sees young kids have their
first kiss, yearning for a set of fingers
to wipe its dust off and allow it to speak.
The moon waits for the sun, every day
she catches a glance and lets him go
and every day he tries to reach for her
but can only send her his gaze.
the sea waits for companionship, it must get lonely
all alone and the sky for the sea and how the world is
full of things that we can only see, but never even feel?
and how sculptures and art speak to you more than humans
ever could while I dance with the ache that you plant
in me, only nurturing it stronger with every gaze that you put on me
but let me whisper a secret in your ear: I will stay on the ground, waiting for you to fall on me like a leaf.
